Admission
UNLV strives for diversity; therefore, all applicants are ranked based on both quantitative and qualitative criteria to support the admission committee criteria for interviewing applicants as well as admission to the program. Selection of candidates is based on the following:

Quantitative Analysis
The quantitative ranking is based on three criteria: Class rank, National Board Scores (Part I and Part II) and GPA. Class rank is preferred to the GPA, since we feel it is a more reliable and uniform measure of academic standing (GPA is used as a qualitative measure). If an applicant cannot provide class rank, more value will be placed on the qualitative GPA.

Qualitative Analysis
The qualitative (non-cognitive) factors are used to ensure a diversified pool of candidates for admission. These include, but are not limited to, the following: experience from private practice, evidence of research activity, evidence of teaching, participation in a GPR or AEGD program, professionalism, personal suitability and letters of recommendation. Special consideration will be given to Nevada residents from dentally underserved areas.

Only a limited number of qualified applicants are invited for interview. Those not invited will be notified. Interviews will be held in early December 2009. Candidates will be informed of their acceptance by January 2010 and a non-refundable $1,000 acceptance deposit will be within one week of acceptance.
Selected applicants must submit a background check to PBIS, as well as any further background checks required by affiliated hospitals, and obtain a regular or limited license to practice dentistry in State of Nevada. Residents must present proof of adequate malpractice insurance, as well as health insurance and immunizations (MMR, Hepatitis B, TD, Varicella immunity, Tuberculosis screening). Residents must submit to random or blanket drug screenings upon request. Please mail all requested items directly to the following address:
